On a visit to Noah's Ark in Kentucky, I found myself without a drop of good coffee in the immediate vicinity of my hotel. The city was aptly named Dry Ridge and fortunately, I was able to make plans to travel a little out of the way early the next morning to grab some local coffee and remedy my situation.

Traveling to the town of Walton, I found myself in front of a shop called Enlightenment Coffee. Located in a strip mall right off the interstate, the shop literally just opened as a I parked in front of their doors. Inside, the shop boasted a warm, inviting aesthetic with plenty of seating.

As for coffee, they offer local roaster Carabello Coffee out of Newport, and thus I ended up with an espresso of their Tandem Espresso and a drip coffee of a single origin Congo. The espresso, pulled long with brown crema, smacked of orange, vanilla, molasses and buttery croissant, proving bright and delicious. The drip also came out kicking, with toothsome notes of strawberry, clementine, nougat, rhubarb, Italian bread and sesame seeds in a medium body.

While I would have enjoyed further time at their charming enterprise, I had to head back south to rendezvous with the family prior to boarding the Ark. Thus, if you are ever in the area of northern Kentucky or Cincinnati, definitely check out the great offerings of Enlightenment Coffee.
