SkyTop Coffee

Subject: SkyTop Coffee
Location: Manlius, NY
WiFi?: yes
Rating: 6+ [see key]

When I lived in Syracuse, I definitely did not take full advantage of the many nearby towns and attractions. One such nifty nearby town was Manlius. While I made a few trips over for dining or to take in some history, it sadly lacked a good coffeehouse in my days upstate.

Fortunately, time remedied this matter and a great coffee shop moved into town. Situated in a strip mall space near the local Tops Market, SkyTop Coffee opened its doors long after I moved south but I was happy to visit on a recent trip north. The interior is split with a long counter on the right and seating on the left, all beautifully decorated and full of nice touches.

As for the coffee on my visit, I has an espresso of an Ethiopian single origin and a drip infusion of a Colombian. The espresso, pulled medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, cherries, blueberry, casacara, milk, basil and a little lemon, proving bright and sweet. The drip coffee also proved delicious, with voluptuous notes of caramel, cream, fig, pear, root beer and a little bib lettuce in a smooth body.

While I had more time to spend at SkyTop, I was greatly impressed with the brief visit I was able to have. The next time you're around Manlius, definitely give SkyTop a visit.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
