Growing up, no one told me about the shocking beauty of northern Idaho. Movies and travel guides rave about Montana and Colorado, but Idaho never was mentioned in the same conversation, never mind the same sentence.

And then I found Coeur d'Alene and ever since I have been discovering more and more majesty and sights in the land of northern Idaho. Sadly I don't get to visit much, but when I do I make it count, so my last visit to the area consisted of a few coffee stops, with one being to Union Roasters. With two locations in Coeur d'Alene, I made easily it to the stand-alone shop right off the interstate. Full of white walls, pleasant graphics and copious furniture, the shop was a pleasant place to spend some time.

As for coffee, I settled upon an espresso of a Costa Rica single origin and a drip of a Panama. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of lemon, cream, fig, corn chips and passion fruit, proving subtle, sweet and delicious. The drip coffee also raised my eyebrows in a positive manner, with delicious notes of white grapes, applesauce, nougat, stroopwafel, cream and a little bib lettuce.

Sadly I had no real time to linger so I enjoyed my beverages and rode off determined to further enjoy the offerings of Idaho's north. Whether you are passing through or sticking around Coeur d'Alene, definitely check out Union Roasters.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
