Exo Roast Co.

While I quite enjoy the eastern side of the USA, the sudden burst of heavy humidity every year around June makes me pine for drier regions. That's probably one reason I took such a quick fancy to Tucson. Even in the summer, its beautiful landscapes and agreeable climate made it a nice respite from the constant moisture that is the East Coast.

One other reason to love Tucson is Exo Roast Co. and it's North 6th Avenue shop. Located in a large brick facility with large front windows, the shop decor had a slight feel of the Wild West complimented with sharp, modern decor and furnishings.

As for the coffee, they roast their beans in shop on a black Probat in-shop. The day of my visit, I settled upon an espresso of a single origin Burundi and a pour over of a Colombian. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, blasted forth notes of chocolate, lemon, raspberry, cream, a little ginger and mineral water, proving sweet and nuanced. The pour over also impressed, with smooth, toothsome flavors of raisins, heavy cream, wheat bread, corn muffin and Kashi twigs in a medium body.

If anything, Exo made it hard to return to New Jersey, as I genuinely enjoyed my short time in their establishment (not to mention other shops wholesaling their beans). If you happen to travel near Tucson, definitely check out Exo Roast's great cafe.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
