Many people often overlook tax-free Delaware when it comes time to plan an outing, but the more I visit state the more I find new reasons to return. One particular area of interest is the region's blossoming cafe culture, with a once arid coffee landscape becoming an increasingly lush place to find good beans. One of the oases I've encountered as of late resides in Wilmington on a beautifully walkable stretch of Lower Market Street (aka LoMa), a shop thus aptly named Loma Coffee.

Even though Loma Coffee has been around since 2010, they did not really appear on my radar until I recently discovered they were doing great things with Elixr Coffee. Taking the opportunity one sunny afternoon to stop by while in the city for work, I found parking nearby and strolled over to their beautiful corner property. Inside the shop boasts two levels: the bar and the majority of seating occupy the main level, with a large expanse of tables as well as a make-shift meeting/performance space making up the lower portion.

As for my coffee order that day, I ordered an espresso of Beekeeper and filtered brew of a Colombian. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked sweetly of lemon, chocolate, fresh mozzarella, biscuit, corn chip and a little oregano. The cup of Colombian coffee also proved delicious with smooth, sweet notes of honey, cashew, milk, pear, butter bib lettuce and a little nougat.

After enjoying my drinks, I had to end my break and bid farewell to Loma. If you happen to be in Delaware or passing through, check out Loma Coffee for a good cup of coffee in Wilmington.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
