Mugged: Reunion Island Coffee Roasters

Subject: Reunion Island Coffee Roasters
Coffees Mugged: Kenya Miiri Nyera District
Rating [see key]: 6+

Having not set foot in Toronto for some years now, it puts a twinkle in my eye to see good things progressing with their coffee scene. New coffeehouses grow my list of potential coffee visits, and Toronto roasters keep on pushing out great beans. One such roaster that persists in doing great things is Reunion Island, especially with their recent batch of Kenya Miiri Nyera District.

Getting the coffee in the mail a few weeks back, I had heard great things of this coffee before cracking the bag. Taking it to task, I sampled the coffee via pourover, french press and siphon. The pourover doled out notes of grape, toffee, lemon bar, shortbread, nutmeg and a little dandelion, making for bakery explosion of a brew. The french press also sang a super-sweet melody of caramel, grape, sourdough, lime soda, cream and sugar cookie in a light/medium body. The siphon rounded out the series with a similar toothsome mix of grape, caramel, vanilla cake, milk and a touch of bran.

All together, this particular coffee proved amazing all around. Since plowing through this coffee, I've actually had the pleasure of trying it from two other roasters, and Reunion definitely brought out the excellence in these beans. If you seek a delicious coffee, check out one of Reunion Island's varietals today.

note: coffee was provided free of charge and the above review is objective feedback.
