Rev Coffee Roasters

Subject: Rev Coffee Roasters

I have always looked at getting a great coffee from a distant roaster as a small road trip in a bag. While I aspire to visit every worthwhile coffee purveyor, the sad truth is that there's not much money in my coffee coffers to make that a consistent reality. So until I get to a roaster's physical shop (if they have one), I'm more than content to breathe in their beans and slurp their brews from afar.

Fortunately, I'm able to make it out to a far off roaster once in awhile. One such conquest was a trip Rev Coffee Roasters out in the suburbs of Atlanta. Looking to meet some relatives for breakfast, Rev's Smyrna location proved to be a fantastic spot close to everyone in my intended company. Driving past the new Braves stadium, I found their garage-like venue bustling with numerous patrons. The interior is a mix of red and green walls with tons of tables, all complimented by the sunlight pouring through the windowed garage doors.

Making our way to an open table, we dropped our bags and got to ordering. I took an espresso of their Pogo Blend and a prebrewed cup of their Papua New Guinea. The espresso,  pulled short/medium with brown crema, poured forth notes of lemon squares, sugar cookie, seaweed salad, corn and carrot greens, proving smooth, balanced and a little fruity. The Papua New Guinea sang of pear, cream, cascara, Belgian ale, romain and a little sage in a medium body; a very smooth, supple and wheaty coffee.

After ingesting my beverages, hanging out with my relations and partaking in some of the Rev eats (they make a mean sausage biscuit), we all bid adieu until another fantastic meeting could be had at this Smyrna outpost of Rev. If you happen to be in town for a Braves game or near their other shop in College Park, absolutely roll over to Rev.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
