Driving south from Saginaw, a plethora of gems exist on the way to Detroit. One is Frankenmuth, Michigan's Little Bavaria, a town with tons of tourist gold like the Bavarian Inn and Zehnder's that provide plenty of delectable eats, tourist-rich charm and German-oriented amusement. Another great spot is the city of Rochester, an area not only regarded as one of the better places to live in these United States, but also home to Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters.

Located in a large shop with a front and back entrance, Dessert Oasis boasts a classy interior where patrons gather amidst the many tables and upholstered chairs. The dark wood, brick walls and targeted lighting give it a pleasant, intimate atmosphere that help it transition from daytime coffeehouse to nighttime music venue.

As for coffee, I ordered up an espresso and a pourover of the same Ethiopia Guji. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of sweet chocolate, lime, lavender, tea biscuit and slight water chestnut, making for a sweet and multifaceted infusion. The pourover blasted out a similarly delicious brew of strawberry, cream, corn, buttered sourdough, slight cranberry and nougat.

While I did not have much time to further verify the amazing livability of Rochester, the presence of Dessert Oasis was enough to allure me to live in town. If you happen to be close by or looking at real estate, definitely drop by Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters for a great cup of coffee.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
