One thing I really love to find in a coffeehouse is a feeling of camaraderie. A simple atmosphere of common bonds and good vibrations really makes the difference. Whether it exists as tight bonds between staff, customers or simply everyone who walks in, it is that unified harmony that makes the experience better ten fold.

This was one thing that impressed me upon my inaugural visit to Crema in Nashville. Rolling into their packed parking lot and through their front doors one Saturday, I not only found the place buzzing with activity, but electrified with lots of warm and congenial interactions. From the pleasant back-and-forth with the barista to the cordialities of fellow patrons, I genuinely felt instantly apart of the community.

The coffee also significantly helped my disposition. As one of Nashville's only quality roasters, I've been a fan of Crema since I first sampled their beans some years back. That day I decided upon an espresso of an El Salvador and a pourover of a Guatemala. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, resonated notes of ginger, chocolate, a touch of smoked brisket, basil and a touch of black licorice, demonstrating a smooth and succulent infusion. The pourover issued forth honey, caramel, apple turnover, tomato and biscuit crust, embodying a sweet and mellow brew.

After enjoying my drinks, I collected my effects and had to be on my way. But walking out, I almost felt compelled to wave a hearty farewell to the cheery folks at Crema. If you seek great coffee and pleasant digs, stop by their space on Hermitage Ave the next time you are in town.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
